    Hmmmm.....it worked! I might be
doing this waaay too often. I took the still frames and slurred them
    together using Adobe ImageReady.

Wow, I said I would update after 10 mad props, and you're making me work! Oh, and a spam update: I'm up to 3,403 spam e-mails over a three day period! I'm popular with bulk e-mailers. I never added it up like this before, and I'm wondering - does anyone else get this special treatment?

Okay, so my girlfriend is moving to Milwaukee for the summer from Oregon. I have a week - should I clean up my room? Do some laundry? Buy her something? Plan something?

  • Three months ago today, I was in New Zealand, climbing Mt. Ben Nevis on the Southern Island, not far from Nelson.

    Can't say I didn't warn you!

  • One I don't understand...

    • Putting only $5 of gas in your car just so it doesn't seem so expensive?

It's a good thing spam filters exist. I finally added it up today - I received 1156 spam e-mails in the last 24 hours. If they only knew where things would go after they invent them..... I mean, I use my cell phone as a radio in the shower, and I'm sure that someday they'll all be completely waterproof so you can walk right it. "Hello, yeah I'm taking a shower.....no, go right ahead, I've got time."

This pic is 3 1/2 years old....wow. I can't wait until things are this green again.

  • Have you ever...

    • Avoided putting your whole foot on a grate or manhole when walking on a sidewalk in case it ever fell through?

    • Typed an address or number in the "Address" bar on an internet window while on the phone with nowhere else to write?
  • When a major, publicly-owned company releases a new service, I tend to think that it must have taken a lot of thought and consideration.

When Google Romance emerged, though, I had a hard time following that logic.

Then I looked at the date.

  • With XP Media Center Edition, you get all these dancers you can use, and I've pretty much made up my mind on who my favorite is, but being the advocate of democratic decision making that I am, I would like to get some votes from you! I tried to capture each one in a good pose, even though I couldn't make up my mind on what to use for Kris. Ben's sprinkler move was a given. =)

While I was making this, I kept thinking, "Melina's gonna like this one" or "Pete's gonna say this is his fav"!

    Widescreen Rules Resolution

Oh, forgot to mention...this picture was taken by Beth or Joe in New York. It's the New Croton Reservoir (actually...not so new any more) just off the Hudson where my dad grew up on Morningside Drive. This is one of my favorite places to pull up on Google Earth, along with the places around the world that I enjoyed so much like Krakov, Poland and Altensteig/Freiburg, Germany. There's a little place across from the OSU Beaver's field that I pulled up too. :)

So I got sick of being told that I would get a new computer "in a few months" or "in a few days" or "in a few weeks" so I just up and ordered it with my own money! It is my first computer in 6 years and is by far the fastest machine that I've ever used in my life. The dual-core processor just cruises through projects - I was copying two DVDs simultaneously and the CPU usage hovered between 0% and 2%. Too cool. The little starter 80GB hard drive is now full, but UPS says my 320GB one is in Oak Creek and on its way here. That'll be helpful because I have a lot of video to work with.

While I was making the movie below, the available RAM dipped as low as 30MB while the page file soared over 1.5GB, making me think that the 1GB of memory that it came with is not going to cut it. If I have more memory, it'll better utilize the CPU that was the expensive part. Actually, I paid less for everything - dual DVD drives and burner, FireWire, Creative's 7.1 digital surround sound, the kicking 256MB ATI graphics card, plus the outrageously big 20" widescreen LCD with picture-in-picture TV - than the cheapest iBook. Granted, I can't put it in my backpack, but for portability, Matt bought the same features (sans the monitor, but including the screaming dual 2.8Ghz processors) in a laptop for even less!

I realize this is gibberish to many of you, but I've been in either an IT mood or a biz mood. Neither of which are very interesting to virtually all of my readers, so I've been occupying myself on tree and IT forums lately. If I get 10 mad props on an entry, I'll update. Is that fair, David? :) Feedback was getting sluggish here, and I needed a break. Going back to forums is always fun, and I'll try to split my time more evenly, but I've promised that before.

The file is 13.5MB, but bear with me, it's eight minutes of goodness! The new computer is crushing out video, and here's my first product. The dual core processors casually handling everything I throw at them, but the 1GB of memory is not quite enough. :-/ Hope you enjoy this one, and if you want the DVD-quality version, let me know.

Hello folks! An hour ago, I rolled off my 17th flight for 2006 after logging some record hours sitting in an airport on standby... It was definitely worth it to see my girlfriend and friends in Oregon and in Colorado. =) A couple notes about the video, you'll see Kirsten land the jump just fine at the very beginning, you'll see Josh biff his landing, and, well, you see what I do!

For those of you who aren't "Quicktime-friendly" (in a Bennet Brauer sort of way), this is from earlier this month while doing some tree work. Actually, I ended up removing the whole lead that went over my dentist's house out here on Lake Michigan. Hard to see some of it - I apologize - the bucket was rocketing me up into the tree pretty quickly. =) Nothing like heavy equipment fifty five feet in the air to get me going in the morning!

How do you catch up on Xanga? Personally, I canceled all my Xanga e-mails a looong time ago and just check sites online. If I have time, going through the "Your Subscriptions" page and if not, just hitting the highlights based on who's on top of the subscriptions heap. =)

  • Halt the presses! Halt the presses! We've got an update!

We have an upcoming birthday for the newlywed, newly relocated, newly employed, Matt Groth. =) In the meantime, my treehugger friend Adam is celebrating with his alter-ego hamburger eater. heehee - or was that supposed to be secret?

No need to halt the poem! Here's a glimpse at the next three days for facebook birthdays for me. Normally this isn't very interesting, but there are some notable quotables in here. =)

For me, it's difficult which of these three, err...four, men has done more for our country. Adam, The Incredibly Large Man Eating a Hamburger, George Washington, or Ron Burgundy. Gentlemen, I salute you on this most august occasion.
