Censorship
This morning, I posted a comment then got kicked off of Xanga - somehow it wouldn't let me sign in, no matter how hard I tried, no matter how intensely I looked, and no matter how many people I told about it in IM conversations.
Turns out it was a cookie malfunction, but in the meantime, I couldn't even see all my pictures because someone rated one of the pictures from the Louvre as "D" for Discretion Required! I had to be logged in to see it and verify that I'm over 18. They didn't even have this at the Louvre! There were - get this - small children walking around! Anyways, I appreciate what they're trying to do, and I'm a Xanga Moderator, but I think too many people get too excited about the power they're wielding. Even in White Houses.

what's a "xanga moderator"? do you have, like, a name badge and stuff? that'd be awwwwwwesome.
i still haven't seen that photo on xanga boost, though. maybe that's because i'm avoiding the large categories. it's astonishing how much CRAP you have to wade through on boost to get to the good stuff.
think of all the amazing, historic people who have had to endure censorship. you've just joined the ranks of greatness (even if it was mostly a cookie malfunction)
i missed that discretionary picture. hmm. i was with you in this post until the last sentence.
have you seen the junk on Xanga? That is ridiculous! Take a look at some of the blog rings...there is a lot of porn on Xanga. I am worried that my children may someday want a blog on here. I know High School kids from our children's school that have a blog ring here and I hope they don't stumble across some of the gross thins I have seen.
somehow i think there are worse things on Xanga than a picture from the Louvre of classic art. people must be really lacking for things to do if their entertainment is to censor artworks that are important to the education of the children they are censoring. heaven forbid we have to teach our children the correct anatomy of the body as opposed to the pornography that the not-so-educated portion of Xanga claims is real.
which picture was it?
well, nevermind. it censored me too. I'm thoroughly amused.
Yes, I think that "Caution" rating submissions should go directly to Admin for verification 1st. Although it's good in a way that (if it was porn or something) it acts as a self-protection mechanism. How to draw the line though...Xanga would need a ton of staff to pour over all the (Sometimes crap) entries.
