  • With XP Media Center Edition, you get all these dancers you can use, and I've pretty much made up my mind on who my favorite is, but being the advocate of democratic decision making that I am, I would like to get some votes from you! I tried to capture each one in a good pose, even though I couldn't make up my mind on what to use for Kris. Ben's sprinkler move was a given. =)

While I was making this, I kept thinking, "Melina's gonna like this one" or "Pete's gonna say this is his fav"!

Oh, forgot to mention...this picture was taken by Beth or Joe in New York. It's the New Croton Reservoir (actually...not so new any more) just off the Hudson where my dad grew up on Morningside Drive. This is one of my favorite places to pull up on Google Earth, along with the places around the world that I enjoyed so much like Krakov, Poland and Altensteig/Freiburg, Germany. There's a little place across from the OSU Beaver's field that I pulled up too. :)

So I got sick of being told that I would get a new computer "in a few months" or "in a few days" or "in a few weeks" so I just up and ordered it with my own money! It is my first computer in 6 years and is by far the fastest machine that I've ever used in my life. The dual-core processor just cruises through projects - I was copying two DVDs simultaneously and the CPU usage hovered between 0% and 2%. Too cool. The little starter 80GB hard drive is now full, but UPS says my 320GB one is in Oak Creek and on its way here. That'll be helpful because I have a lot of video to work with.

While I was making the movie below, the available RAM dipped as low as 30MB while the page file soared over 1.5GB, making me think that the 1GB of memory that it came with is not going to cut it. If I have more memory, it'll better utilize the CPU that was the expensive part. Actually, I paid less for everything - dual DVD drives and burner, FireWire, Creative's 7.1 digital surround sound, the kicking 256MB ATI graphics card, plus the outrageously big 20" widescreen LCD with picture-in-picture TV - than the cheapest iBook. Granted, I can't put it in my backpack, but for portability, Matt bought the same features (sans the monitor, but including the screaming dual 2.8Ghz processors) in a laptop for even less!

I realize this is gibberish to many of you, but I've been in either an IT mood or a biz mood. Neither of which are very interesting to virtually all of my readers, so I've been occupying myself on tree and IT forums lately. If I get 10 mad props on an entry, I'll update. Is that fair, David? :) Feedback was getting sluggish here, and I needed a break. Going back to forums is always fun, and I'll try to split my time more evenly, but I've promised that before.

So much to do, so much time. Ahh...
