  • Which is more difficult:

    • Changing yourself?
      ...or...
    • Changing your self-perception?

Quick edit: I LOVE starting fluid!! Can't get an engine started? Just spritz some ether in the air filter and a little lawnmower-sized salter springs to life. Or better yet - a massive six-cylinder diesel motor absolutely roars into action, going from a slow turn to an insane spin. First time I saw that, I practically wet myself. And would have had to change myself!

  • changing yourself? like when u wet urself and need a new diaper? Alex said I look like a crazy person now ><

  • That's a good question.  Self-perception is really deceptive, that is we go way out of our way to paint a more or less unrealistic picture of myself. Not sure which is easier though to change.  Seems like selfperception may be more difficult without some kind of additional revelation, epiphany or breakthrough of somekind. And changing the self- what we really are externally is tough too.  maybe you need to do both to do one.

  • Changing yourself often changes your self-perception.  But, changing self-perception is infinitely harder than changing yourself.  Been there, done that.  Boo-ya

  • Thanks for commenting me back.

  • I know, it's really not me at all.   I don't know what they're talking about.

    ;)

Oh, and a little equation comment:    Me + Lighter Fluid = Pyro

  • Dunno.  I actually find it so odd to discover what others perceive me as.  I can usually figure out how they got there but I still find it odd.

Hey, when are you going to New Zealand?  I may mail you a flat Stanley to accompany you on your journeys, if you are willing.  A little six-year-old pictured here  with her new little sister would be thrilled!

  • I'm thinking that changing your self-perception is more difficult. Take for instance people who have gained/lost a lot of weight - they often still see themselves as their old self for very long periods of time, simply because it's hard to re-learn how to see yourself.

  • ryc:  I have a Lexus?  That's news to me!  Did you hear this from my parents?  Perhaps it's a Christmas present...

  • I don't have a definitive opinion for that one, Nick. I can think of examples of both in my life - times that I thought I had changed myself and found that challenging and then times that I had a harder time relating to the possibility that my perception of self had really changed. Boy, the longer I've been out of college, the harder it is to move into the intellectual discussions - I live in such a literal world most of the time.

  • It all starts with cahnging your self preception so I would say that is harder. Thank you so much for your prayers, it is truly appreciated- Heather
