Fall colors...they were beautiful today. The sky was gray, even dark, but there was still beauty.
Today
the customer was near Port Washington - about a 45 minute drive for me.
I found that I was being watched closely in this rural area.Seriously. Those sleuthing Holsteins
were intimidating. Unrelenting. Always, always watching. Just a word of
caution for anyone else going near Port Washington, Wisconsin. My friend works at this dealership down
the road. He's always puzzled by the car salesmen, and now I am too! I
took this picture thinking that I may someday find it on
eBaumsworld.com or CollegeHumor.com! Perhaps I should mention that the
used car salesmen bought two double wide trailers to work out of in
their parking lot. What is this? Kentucky? West Virginia? You can find plants like this on days like these. But keep looking. These flowers were footsteps away.
On a sad note, I'm going to Oregon in a couple of hours to see my girlfriend, Esther
...
But the sad news is about her dad. She has updates on her blog.

Nicely done on the photography, my friend! Ahhhh will I ever catch up?? Perhaps someday my skillz will match yours
I especially like the one of the pathway in the woods. The red flowers jumped out at me right away, and I love the way the sunlight falls...it's like, "Hey, there's something cool going on over HERE...here to the right...come on over..." Cool idea on the cows too, hahahaha on that one. I promise the cows were not stalking you. Ego issues??
Actually, Milwaukee Lutheran football is playing up there next week, and I kinda sent those cows there for survellance...called me asking if they should keep an eye on Nick since he was there. Hope they didn't scare ya too much Nicko.
Actually the picture with the red flowers is the side of my house.
It looks different when I'm not on the phone with Esther
Or, other side of the house?
great pictures...thats very sweet of you to come and visit your amazing girlfriend
Oh, gorgeous pictures! The holstein ones are awesome. They really do look scary. Fall color is just not the same in California. I'll live though. I did plant a sugar maple in our front yard, but so far the results have been lackluster. Might have something to do with the fact that the tree has all of 8 branches and about 57 leaves starting out. Also, the leaves start turning in like June. Weird California weather.
Good point about the peat moss. I forget which product does what sometimes. Considering how crappy my soil is, it always surprises me how well things grow here. I guess the 9 month growing season and state wide pest control helps. Since our winter temp rarely falls below freezing, my forsythia should look great come February or March.
Oh, my compost pile...It's growing, but I keep forgetting to water it, so it's not really decomposing very quickly. That and I hate turning it. But it's still fun.
Those pictures are great! I will add my vote to the many others for the Holsteins as my fav. I was noticing the trees were beginning to change here but evidently it is nothing like the beauty you have. Fall makes me so happy! I am envious of anyone who spends their days driving rural roads and staying outdoors. Instead I spend my time in the library room designated for our department that is four stories underground. *sigh*
So, where's the picture of a fella peeing in the woods with these great fall colors? :0) Hahaha.
Love the pictures. I am so happy you were able to come out and be with Esther. Well Done you.
Wow, here in the Northeast the trees just refuse to change colors. You'd think it was still July, it's been that bad. The newspapers are saying our weather here is so crazy the trees can't tell what season it is, so the leaves haven't shown much of a change colorwise. Maybe in November. I'm glad to see you're still doing well. Peace!
It was nice to meet you this weekend. I like that picture of the cows in the review mirror.
True, deep, committed relationship in this day and age: exchange of Xanga passwords.
hi, i've been reading about you on esther's site and read your comments on turabiangirl. i feel like i know you, well sort of, and should stop in and say "hi." glad you could be with esther last weekend. these pictures are wonderful too. aside from spring and summer, i like the fall season. i would like to ban winter. being in hawaii, we only get the summer season, but what's not to love about 80 degrees and palm trees in the dead of winter? your pictures make me miss the fall. if only a little bit. :0)
Oh geepers NICK! Thanks for all the pictures of Perry... you did leave me a comment though... you were one of my 13 comments... not quite 20
I'm pretty much a xanga looser
Do you tell Perry that I'm in love with him? If so, I hope his girl friend doesn't want to punch me
Hope you have a great day!! see ya
WHAT!!? You don't think Perry remembers me?! C'mon I was like 14 last time I saw him...that wasn't SOO long ago that he wouldn't remember the chemistry (I like to call love) that we once shared.
ouch, I'm missing a good Yooper fall! though the other day I did see one deciduous tree on the way to class, its green leaves had turned yellowish orange, I yelped and pointed it out to the other international students: "look, a tree! a tree!" They understood instantly. The Greek students surrounding us thought we were - well, weird international students.
i wonder if those cows are still following you.
