  • I was stung 29 times by yellow jackets today. Just stepped on their
    home, that's all. You'd think they would be afraid of my running
    chainsaw, but a large group of them picked out my lower back and upper
    butt cheeks for prime stinging territory. Benadryl and a cold pack
    later, I'm feeling fine.

    Tonight I leave to go canoeing for a boy's ministry outreach this
    weekend for the second year. Definitely going to carpool with gas at
    $3.25/gallon and some stations with only premium for much more. Wish me
    the best! I'm praying for some
    good opportunities to be both a role model and helping
    hand.....reaching out.....touching me.....touching you......

  • Owie owie owie!!!  Since we've moved into this house, we've found no less than 50 yellowjacket nests.  Amazingly, only 2 or 3 stings all summer...

    And, uh, pick another Neil Diamond song already.

  • Ouch!  Trust you will not be too groggy from the Benadryl.  Be careful driving.  See, I've become your clucking Oregon mother.....  Praying you will have an effective time with these kids.

    Say, you have to come see us if you come out to Oregon again.  OK?

  • Ow!  Those yellow jackets are sure pesky around here this time of year.  (By the way, I'm your neighbor to the north in Chilton, WI, and sis-in-law of walkalongside.  Been reading your adventures since faintstarlite posted about you visiting in OR.)

  • Ouch indeed! One sting a couple weeks ago made my whole wrist swell up. I can't imagine 29 stings!

  • I heard that stupid song in an airport today, the Minneapolis airport I think.  I considered running around to try and find the speakers and rip them out...but I managed to restrain myself.

    I hope you're feeling ok after the 29 stings, I am trying my best not to be worried about you

  • If you think that's bad, you should try getting stung by a yell...oh, crap...nevermind.

    I tried knocking out a nest on my balcony once. Turned out there was still a yellow jacket in there who didn't care for me, trying to do my landlording duty, and came right after me. I managed to confuse him by running into the video room.
    Then I shot him.

    Never did get any rent out of it.

  • wow, being stung 29 times would kill me!  I'm allergic to bees.  When I get stung by just 1 of them my face breaks out in hives, I start wheezing, my throat constricts, and I have trouble breathing.

    But other than that I'm ok.

    I hope the swelling goes down soon and that you have an awesome time with whatever you're doing with that ministry. 

    just FYI:  that's actually my room mate's hat in my Xanga pic.  Unfortunately I possess inadequate funding for such a trophy.

  • Oooooo, jeez! Sounds painful and a little scary. But ya know, it would be kinda cool if you'd broken a record with this.... although 29 doesn't seem like quite enough, huh.. so next time *laughing* if you could maybe hang in there a little longer.. ;o) teasing, glad you're not allergic.

  • Huh.  It works.  Coolest thing.  I just learned that - at any time - you can change the number of eProps you've given someone.  See, originally, I had given you the default 2 eProps.  Now, just because I can, I switched it to one.  (Select the eProps and leave the comment field blank...)  But I'll SAY it's because I'm tired of reading this entry, and I want you to post something new.  Something without Neil Diamond lyrics.
