  • Another reason to love Firefox: blocking ads.
Every time I have an ad, I just right-click it and click “Block images
from…(advertising.com, doubleclick.net, etc.)” Try it! When people
say they’re bothered by all the advertising, I often forget that I
don’t see a lot of the ads. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with
Macromedia Flash, but there are other advanced workarounds for that too.

    Just another tip.

Any other Firefox users out there? It rocks!

  • Yo! Stop by
Joe’s Xanga site and give him a warm welcome! Everyone is invited -
he’s like me, in fact. All comments are good comments. But he says he
doesn’t have as much time on his hands as I do. Well, I think I would
be walloped by some writers, but I do like to post!

    You are a

    Social Moderate
    (55% permissive)

    and an…

    Economic Moderate
    (56% permissive)

You are best described as a:

    Centrist

    Link: The Politics Test

    I
identify myself as a moderate, and the test confirms that. You can’t
put too much stock in it, but I’m sure my political beliefs do line up
close with Adam Sandler and Donald Trump. Yes, I do have a very hard
time with two parties. Each one of the questions could be a huge debate
    - it was interesting just taking it.

I’m gonna see Walk the Line this weekend. Let’s make it a party!
  • This book just arrived, and wow, I get lost in books like these! Someday, I’ll move on to books with words, too.

  • Yay! Someone’s recruiting me for a job! This is always fun – but now he’s offering $50,000 plus bonuses. The company is great – I work with them all the time, but the job has a lot of traveling involved.
You know how I hate traveling. And the future at the company is
so-so…all the other employees (there’s 5 of them) are making over
$100,000 this year with their bonuses. Not like I’m going anywhere
since I’m not going to leave all this for that, but it does give me a
bargaining chip with my dad on the topic of raises!

It would be a real blessing, but the big thing is that at that rate, I
could visit someone going to grad school in, say, the UK or some
faraway place like Chicago. Plus…quick math in public…I could pay
off my Jeep’s tow bill from 3 years ago….by 2074!

  • It’s SNOWING!!!
  • My stomach tightens when I think about this. A guy in Pennsylvania, David Ludwig (his Xanga) killed the parents of his girlfriend, Kara Borden (her Xanga).
Two awkward teenagers goofing off on Xanga – and quoting “Christian”
songs (Project 86) and talk about their Bible study groups and friends
and post pictures together and…. What happened? In the news, Kara’s
friends say she was hanging out with the wrong friends and slipping up
in her relationship with God. Still… A week ago he posted pictures of
himself…and she commented on his hair cut and all. Still freaky.

It makes me take more seriously the role of who and what we surround
ourselves with and the importance of not ignoring God because the
choices that you make are….dangerous. It’s no lie that we are a great
target to the devil and that it couldn’t make him happier to see a guy
claiming to be a Christian kill the parents of his waaay too young
    girlfriend.

Plus this makes me even more leery of guys who are much older than
their girlfriends! Whatever is wrong with them that is making them
strike out with girls their age is apparently not getting noticed by
the younger girls who are just happy to get the attention. Oh dear, I
have three sisters. Anyways, I heard about this story and keep thinking
about it and praying for the family especially.

    Well…this answers some question.

My latest website endeavor for class.

  •

It’s a good thing I got in for free. Seether I really didn’t care
for…it was akin to watching a wound get infected on stage. All the
songs are about his crappy superstar life, and I really don’t care. Go
write another song about how I don’t care about you!

    Audioslave
was what I had high hopes for – and they delivered pretty
well musically. The sound quality was better, as Matt would certainly
appreciate, and the guitarist Tom Morello and the drummer Brad Wilk did
awesome jobs alike. Probably the most crystal clear drumming live that
I’ve ever heard. Watching Morello on the guitar was like watching Kenny
    Wayne Shepherd
this summer – they both do things you’re not supposed to
be able to do! The drawback and dealbreaker for me was the singer Chris
    Cornell
of Soundgarden (the other band members were from Rage Against
the Machine). He just didn’t sing very well – if he was sick, he never
    said so.

When he talked between songs, though, I got sick. I knew that the song
Doesn’t Remind Me’s verses mention gypsy moths and speaking in tongues,
among other things. In each line, it would end “…it doesn’t remind me
of anything.” Made me wonder listening to it, but then he starts going
off in concert after the song about Christians. Plink. You’re done.
Ding. Bang. Nope. Crediblity gone. Seriously, I understand we as
Christians screw up, but let’s be civil and intelligent. His whole
anti-war message, human rights, etc….I couldn’t care any less now.

The rest of the time, I amused myself watching my brother do his EMT
work with the event staff as they were throwing drunks around – that
was entertainment! Oh, it was my first time at The Rave, actually, the
Eagles Ballroom (try the 360 tour – look up!). Really cool venue! It has a wood dance floor over a
half acre in size with a second level reminicisent of ancient
architecture. Mix that with 50+ bartenders and it gets pretty rowdy at
    the end!

For months, I’ve had a link to
his site on the left of my site, but recently Brent has written some
really rich posts that I want to highlight.

I’m a very good bargain shopper. The problem is that I bargain shop too often…

Bikes, anyone? A six mile commute taking 1.5 hours in car is absurd – you could make that on foot in less time!

  • Hello! Columbus is treating me well – the conference is excellent,
and it’s great to see the friends that I only see once a year! My big
news for the night is that I successfully got 18 days paid vacation for
January and successfully purchased tickets for Jan 1-18, 2006 to New Zealand.
I am soooo excited! My friend Aaron and I are flying out and spending
the time with my other friend Aaron – and we will climb trees. And
mountains. Yes. Wooo hooo! (this is me excited!)

  • My new cell phone
has finally arrived! It included a Bluetooth wireless headset with
voice recognition, a camera with up to 1280×960 resolution, and a
battery that lasts past noon! My options were limited for
phones – it had to be able to hold my 409 numbers in my phonebook.

Oh, and the plan is new! Now I’m on a plan with 8000 anytime minutes,
free calls within US Cellular, free incoming or call me minutes, free
text messages, and 700 included nationwide roaming minutes. What I’m
trying to say is: call me or text me!

We got a relationship you see,
     Between the internet and me.
     eBay has
deals to buy and to sell,
Xanga is great to post and well,
    I met my
    girlfriend there this summer.
    Knowing her couldn’t be funner.
    If it is
    an addiction in fact,
Leave me doc – I love the impact!

Headed back east in a couple hours on a plane to Columbus, OH for the world’s largest tree care expo. Woo hoo! Trees!
