Month: February 2005

  • 3 states in the last 24 hours. I’ve also worked for the last 14 hours.
I have an exam in 2 1/2 hours. My life is not getting any easier! If it wasn’t for prayer, I’d be roadkill.

    Where’s my bedtime story?

  • Sorry about the drought, but I had a great time in Texas! It was 80
degrees flying out to arrive in Chicago where they had us circle until
the runway was salted! Well, I best be off plowing now – reality bites,
    hard.

  • Is there anyone else in the world who has a lawn growing in the back of
their pick-up truck? Maybe…. A stray blade of grass may have cropped
up and perhaps people have tried it planting intentionally before. But
is there anyone else with a lawn and daffodils in the back of their pick-up truck? I’m going for the record here. Pictures forthcoming…

In several hours, I will be headed to Chicago, then Dallas to visit the
family there then College Station to meet another person. I’m very much
looking forward to this and looking forward to the warmer temperatures.
Today, I was climbing a 65′ honeylocust, Gleditsia
    triacanthos
, with the temperatures in the teens and a
windchill at zero. But I got to speak Spanish all day again, and I
actually somewhat enjoyed my class. What a combination!

On top of it all, I figured how to get a silly e-mail account set up
using POP access. Some servers want authentication, some don’t. Some
want sending and not receiving….finally I figured it out. Yay!

And I’m listening to the only country music song I like.

Think I’ll run into this in Texas?

  • Looking at my driver’s license while eating cereal tonight, I realized that in the last 3 1/2 years I have:

    Grown 4 inches.
    Gained 10 pounds.
    Grown my hair out.
    Gotten smaller glasses.
    G-lost my organ donor sticker.

Maybe the last one doesn’t start with a G, but I certainly have changed
    in the height department…. I wonder when I’ll stop growing – 23? 24?
    Any guesses?

  • Do you know your Presidential Hair? Don’t worry, I only knew 3 out of 7 the first time.

  • I don’t know how I feel today. Today was a wide range of emotions, and
it’s not normal for me…. Typically in situations like this, I spend a
lot of money, but I’m not about to this time. This time it’s a more
contemplative state, perfect for napping, really.

The clock is ticking for the winter because I will soon be racing
around for work with the typical 80 hour work weeks, so I’m soaking up
these times where I have less on my plate. I wish I was paid by the
    hour….or just making more!

I can’t have a sad post, so to cheer people up, here’s a mix of things:

    My fictitious quote
This is a press release with my name on something I never said:

Students at UW campuses across the state
commended Senator Harsdorf and the members of the Joint Committee on Finance
for making safety on college campuses a priority. “After the introduction
of SB 214 many students articulated concerns for the safety of their campuses
and it is great to see that those concerns were heard and addressed by the
legislators working on this bill,” said Nicholas Crawford, President of
the UW-Stevens Point Student Government Association.

Do you really think I could’ve come up with that?

    I Saw and Sought
I drove past a Cenex store maybe two
years and saw this sign but didn’t have a camera. I remembered when I
got home to check to see if Cenex had a picture on their website as
some companies post their latest ad campaigns, but they didn’t. So I
e-mailed Cenex and got a response a couple days later with this picture
attached. I wonder if someone ran out with a camera and snapped it…
At any rate, this is in honor of my friend Lance Wallace, who has rescued many cats from trees.

    And Since It’s Valentines Day

I just thought it’d be worth reminding the world of this. I was
e-mailed this picture by some friends who were thinking of me and my
    solitude while they enjoy Florida.

  • Have you ever dialed a number, with something in mind to start talking
about, only to hear it ring and ring. Then you quickly consider what
you’re going to say as a message only to have the person pick up the
phone, leaving you speechless as you rewind your train of thought to
what you were originally going to say.

  • My cell’s phone book is becoming a tragic love story.

  • The plan worked! I ate food and recruited students….it all went
according to plan. Then things didn’t go according to plan as I became
the designated driver (as usual) and witnessed my buddy get ground on
by a team of girls that left him feeling like coffee grounds. It was
fun to watch….he didn’t make it two steps before they had their arms
around him. He tried, but I wasn’t going to take either one of them off
his hands. “Hey, relax” she says. “You’re making me nervous” is what I
    was thinking….

    Stay away from fast women.

In other news, I flicked the lights on in a room with a couple in bed.
That was fun. I’m avoiding my homework, and I’m going to Green Bay
    tomorrow. Yay!

More news, I got to sit in on part a Student Government and say hello
as President-emeritus (I like that more than ex-Pres). Eh, it wasn’t
that glorious, but it was good to see people again after a while. As
much as I despise that leadership professor, her virtual session made
this trip possible. I’m still not writing her a thank you note. And she
    still can’t be my Valentine.

  • Nothing like virtual class sessions! I don’t have to show up on
Thursday night… Yay! Instead, I’m heading to Stevens Point to recruit
some students to work for us and go to the annual forestry banquet.
    That’s the plan!
